My name is Teyshaun Evelyn, and I am a 19-year-old student at the University of Rochester majoring in Computer Science. As a first-generation college student from The Bronx, NY, I take great pride in overcoming challenges that have shaped me into who I am today. With a passion for technology and problem-solving, I'm eager to deepen my understanding of Computer Science while also exploring the world around me.
Since childhood, I loved anything that had to do with new and impressive technology. I love diving into Python, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, and trying to create new websites and applications while expanding my knowledge even more. Not only do I love software, but I love the physical side of computer engineering too — I built my own PC in late 2018, and have been upgrading it ever since.
Photography has always been one of my biggest hobbies. Every time I come across a beautiful scene, I make it my priority to capture the moment. I edit using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and finally obtained a Canon Rebel T8i in November of 2023 after years of aspiring for a DSLR.
Conducted OSINT reconnaissance using Shodan on my university's network, identifying several security misconfigurations including services running unencrypted HTTP instead of HTTPS, and open ports associated with known public exploits. Findings were responsibly disclosed to my universities IT department.
Developed a custom Windows executable payload using the Metasploit Framework, targeting an open TCP port with a known public exploit. After generating the payload, performed hash verification using SHA1 and submitted the file hash to VirusTotal via CLI to analyze how threat intelligence platforms and antivirus engines detect and classify the malware
Demonstrated asymmetric encryption using OpenSSL and SSH key pairs, encrypting a plaintext file with a public key and successfully decrypting it with the corresponding private key. Additionally configured SSH key signing for Git commits, verifying cryptographic signatures on version control history.
Analyzed live network traffic using Wireshark, capturing and dissecting TCP packets to understand how data is transmitted across a network. Documented findings in a full presentation covering packet structure, TCP handshake behavior, and how to identify and interpret network activity
Performed password cracking using John the Ripper on a Linux system, analyzing password hashes and attempting to crack weak passwords in a controlled environment. Documented findings in a full presentation covering hash types, cracking techniques, and security best practices
Designed and simulated a local area network (LAN) using Cisco Packet Tracer, modeling a real-world home/office network setup. The simulation includes an ISP connection routed through a DSL modem and network router, which handles NAT to assign private IP addresses to individual devices across an ethernet switch.
This is a typeScript-based secure file transfer application that enables users to safely share files over a network. It uses AWS S3 for file storage and Amplify for login. The frontend is built with React, providing a user-friendly interface for uploading and downloading files. (Collaboration with partner)
Configured a cloud file hosting pipeline using Cloudflare R2 object storage connected to Amazon S3, with a custom subdomain (misc.teyshaun.com) for direct file access. (This video is also sourced from the storage, https://misc.teyshaun.com/cloudstorage.mov)
A website created in March 2022 for a Digital Web Design final. Users can listen to artists while reading their history and albums featuring Spotify embeds, video embeds, and a Bootstrap navbar. My first completed website.
Founded and lead development at MTA Roblox, a Roblox transit simulation group engineering technically accurate New York City bus systems from real-world MTA operational data. Vehicles include bus systems mirroring real transit infrastructure such as a farebox system modeled after real fare collection, GPS-based bus tracking, AI passengers, accurate fleet rosters pulled from real MTA assignments, driver paddle systems reflecting actual schedule data, run numbers, clock-in systems for operators, and next stop announcement systems that follow real route sequencing.
Contributed to the development of Translink, a Roblox transit simulation group that aimed to accurately replicate the real-world Translink bus system. Features include an in-vehicle operator interface that mirrors CAD/AVL workflows (driver login, run selection, route initialization), the implementation of AI passengers tied to stops and timing, a smooth custom driving chassis, and integrated hardware input support (Simulation Driving Setups, eg. Logitech G920)
This is a Cobus 3000, a bus that is usually found shuttling passengers between an airport and the desired plane. This model was fully modeled out by me in Blender, a 3D modelling software in October of 2023 as a commision.
Developed highly detailed 3D models of New York City subway rolling stock in Roblox Studio, including the MTA R143 subway car. Models are built with attention to accurate exterior and interior proportions, livery details, and design elements one to one to their real-world counterparts. More vehicles to be added as the roster grows.
An application made in May 2023, coded fully in Python with customtkinter for the UI and a weather API for real-time city data. My first introduction to async/await and Object Oriented Programming.
A desktop application built with PyQt that monitors the in-game shop in Grow a Garden (Roblox Game), sending real-time notifications when specified fruits become available for purchase.
This project is a Java-based encryption and decryption program that simulates core ideas from block cipher cryptography. It takes a text file, converts it into binary, and encrypts it using a custom key scheduling system, XOR operations, substitution with S-boxes, and permutation rounds. The program supports both encryption and decryption modes, turning encrypted binary back into readable text. (Collaboration with partner)
